Team FAQ

  • What is FIRST LEGO League?
    • FIRST LEGO League is the organization that provides the model curriculum, training, rules, and challenge competition that we use for our Robotics Club.

  • Who can participate?
    • Students aged 9 to 14 can participate.
    • The club will accept all members, but our competition team can only have 10 members.
  • If the competition team can only have 10 members, how will that work?
    •  Everyone can participate at practices, but team members who have logged the most practice time have first preference for the competition team.  All others are welcome attend and cheer our competition team on.
  • When and where is the competition?
    • The FLL competition for Vermont will be held on Sunday, December 11, 2016 at the Norwich University Campus in Northfield, VT.
  • Is there a cost or fee for this program?
    • No, there is no fee to participate in this program.  It is a school club.  We don't have much of a budget, so we may ask for volunteers for snacks, rides, etc.
  • When are practices?
    • Tentatively, practices will take place on Mondays 5:30-8:00, and Fridays 5:30-8:00, with additional practices announced as needed.
  • Do I have to attend every practice?
    • We realize that students have many extra-curricular activities both at and outside of school.  There will be conflicts occasionally, and that's fine.  Logged practice hours will be available to help members make priority calls.
  • Who are the coaches?
    • Our coaches are Mark Drapa and Pete Symula.
  • Are volunteers needed?
    • Yes!  Parent volunteers are always welcome to help coordinate and facilitate our practices, competition, and field trips throughout the season.  Contact the coaches for more information.
